Total snowpack depth at this site was 6.5 ft., however I only dug
down 4 feet. Pit located on a west aspect at 3280 feet just
above the highest skier triggered slide from the day before.
Found a thin 2mm crust 6 inches down with small facets above and
below. The previous day’s avalanches ran on top of the January
monsoon layer (bed surface was a hard dense slab up high, crust
down low)
