Route & General Observations

We decided to watch the lunar eclipse while touring up center ridge with the
goal of skiing kickstep on saturday. High winds were the name of the game and
the reason we turned around. We skied from the bergschrund on Kickstep glacier
and kicked off a small windslab near the terminal moraine of the glacier. This
slab consisted of Thursday’s new snow. It broke 6″-12″ deep, 100′-120′ wide and
ran for 150′. I was able to point ’em when this popped and ski clear of the
debris. Overall shallow snowpack in the alpine and TONS of wind effect.
