Temperatures in the 20°Fs
Calm winds on tour - A little bit of flagging observed from afar on Pastoral ridge

Snow surface

Soft faceting snow with surface hoar on top on northerly to westerly protected slopes
Wet loose avalanche activity on steep southerlies - occurred on Friday 3.5.21
Sun crust on steep southerlies, some softening later in the day no new wet loose observed.
Wind crust trending to sastrugi with surface hoar in wind affected terrain

Snowpack

Dug two pits at 3000'. One in a more protected spot and one in a more wind affected spot.
Pit #1: West aspect, 22° slope HS: could not hit the ground. Pit depth 100 cm. Surface hoar on at the surface wind crust with small facets just below, 2.9 facets 20 cm down CT14 (x2), ECTN14, 1.28 facets 35 cm down CT25 (x2), ECTN24.
Pit # 2: Scoured area, west aspect, HS 260 cm, pit depth 100 cm. Series of wind slab layers, one layer of small facets 20 cm down. No results with stability tests.
