Route & General Observations

On our trip up to the glacier today, we found 4 to 5 inches of snow on top of the ice. The snow was very variable – from rain runnels, stout crust, wind affect, and baby soft snow pockets. We had some rock fall around the glacier as well.

We couldn’t believe how much that glacier has changed over the last few years. The crevasses and bergschrund are actually decent sizes now and there are definitely more cracks than a couple years ago. I’ve attached some photos, that I thought you’d be interested in. There must have been a wind event up there as there were small bits of overhanging snow on the lips of the crevasses.
