Route & General Observations

Busy busy day at HP today. Many people enjoying sunshine and powder.
Didn’t dig into snow so this is a general ob. Multiple laps off False summit of Hatch.
Old D2 slab ax on south face above the summit lake road. Probably happened mid storm. Roller ball activity coming off rocks on same face as the sun came out.
Calm/light winds with sunny skies and moderate temps.
Soft snow surface, 5-10cm ski pen and 20-30 boot pen. Nice and light powder in sun protected areas. Ski pole probe at upper elevations gave the impression of a generally “right-side up” snowpack/ no major layers. Some wind effect on ridgeline. Started out with moderate terrain before slightly increasing the angle. Many volunteer slope testers. Most people seemed to keep the angle fairly conservative.
