Dug a snow pit on a N aspect at 2,800 ft. elevation on Harp Mountain, about 200 feet below the W ridge. Main instability seems to be a faceted weak layer 40 cm into the snowpack, with a compression test result of 22 with a clean, planar fracture line. While skinning up that same slope (24-degree angle), we heard a whumph in the snowpack. On the drive up Hiland road and on the W ridge, saw avalanche debris from a recent D3, perhaps D4 avalanche on a peak across the valley.
