Touring on Gordon Lyon we noted this avalanche off a sub-ridge of Harp Mountain on our second lap up; perhaps it occurred between 1230p and 115p today?

This avalanche was snowboarder triggered, no one caught. The report from the group involved is on the observation page under "Bowls to the West of Harp" in Chugach State Park region. Thanks to both folks for writing in and we are glad all is well.

Clear skies with scattered clouds directly over Arctic Valley

Snow surface

Small surface hoar forming. Wind effect powder, stratugi and anti-track depending on aspect.

Snowpack

Warm from first week in March left a firm surface for the new snow on Friday and Saturday. Pockets of powder and new wind slab are scattered with hard surface conditions.
