Observation: Chugach State Park

Route & General Observations

Followed skin track up the ridge line, signs of winds from the southeast scouring the ridge, many rocks exposed along the ridge.  Hiked to 1800ft and saw no red flags. Skied into the bowl on the northwest aspect. About 4-6″ of light, fresh snow on a thick wind crust.

Patchy fog, about 5-10mph wind at 1800ft, calm below. Cold, low teens.

Snow surface

4-6" of light powder over a hard wind crust, occasional roller balls tracks, thin snow pack on the ridgeline with rock exposure
