Route & General Observations

A nice day. Light winds on ridgetops. About 15 people enjoying the 4068 / Valley of Sin / Government Peak area. No red flags observed. The new snow had a propensity to sluff and keep pace with skiers until reaching the upper end of each runs apron. Saw one instance of sluff triggering a small slab avalanche of the newer snow.

Weather

Mostly clear. Some thin high clouds. Approx -10c @ Skeetawk at 10 AM.

Snow surface

Somewhat variable. Mostly soft snow on shady aspects. Variable soft and hard windslabs on certain aspects and ridgelines. Sun crust on some directly south facing ridgelines.

Snowpack

-No formal tests.
-Sluff entrained more snow on steep north faces, stopping about halfway down the slope
-Observed another skiers sluff seeming to initiate a small slab avalanche of the new snow on Govn't Pk north face. Did not propagate far. D1.
-No obvious solar effect by 4 PM on this sunny day
