Large Cornice failed sending me, debris and sluff down a gully into a wide opening. No large crowns or deep avalanches occurred
As we were booting the ridge line on goldpan, we stopped to look at a potential ski line. Either i or my ski partner triggered the cornice to fall. I was taken down roughly 1000ft with quick sluff and cornice debree. I pulled my airbag and was able to stay above the snow and came out unjured. My partner did not fall and was able to stay on the ridge. We were not far enough back, we thought we were in a safe zone but the cornice failed much further back.
Self rescue.
