Observation: Chugach State Park
Location: Glen Alps Recreational Area
Taught an Avalanche Fundamentals course for Alaska Avalanche School. We spent the whole day in the field- two student groups went primarily around the lower parking lot (summer parking lot), and one student group toured up between the Powerline Trail and the base of Flat Top.

Weather
Partly cloudy. Light breeze throughout the day. Temps are slightly above freezing all day.
Snow surface
5-10cm of new snow on top of a harder faceted layer- and in some locations MF crust.
Snowpack
All of us had reactivity between the new snow interface with the faceted layer beneath roughly 5-10 cm down from the snow surface. We also had reactivity on the basal facets. One instructor's pit results were CT13SP (on the new snow and facet layer), CT23SP and ECTP27 (on the basal facets) with a snow height of 65 cm.
