Skied a few laps on Fresno tuesday. Conditions were quite windblown and
windslabbed. Good snow in some areas but stripped and sastrugi in most
places. Near treeline on a heavily windloaded pocket on a safe indicator slope
i got a small collapse and a few shooting cracks. Moving further onto this
spot i was able to get it to fracture and slide a bit with a good stomping. A
bit higher on the ridge, a slope about fifty yards wide had slid somtime during
the storm. Crown was filled in but large chunks in the debris looked like the
slab was approx. 12″-18″ deep. This spot was tucked into a funny little
terrain trap just below the ridge and not visible from the road.
