Route & General Observations

Skinned up Fresno ridge. Visibility was in and out all day. Hand tests clued us into a reactive storm slab. Dug a pit on a East aspect below ridge. The pit site on the leeward side of a ridge. Did not ski south gully and retreated down ridge.

obscured skies. lightly snowing. North wind to 20

Snow surface

surface condition up to 2500 was un-supportable crust with moist grains below

Snowpack

Found 30 cm fresh storm slab on top of buried surface hoar. Our guess was that this location was sheltered enough from the wind to keep the surface hoar intact before the latest storm. yikes
