Route & General Observations

Dug a pit at 3000 ft on a SE facing wind loaded shoulder (ECTX) and the layers of concern were stubborn but shearing planar with a strong shovel pry about 5 inches and 12 inches down respectively. We skied a south facing gully down to Fresno creek, ascended back to the ridge and skied a north facing tube back down to the highway. No signs of instability seen, just the aforementioned layers were seen in hand pits in the upper 1.5 ft of the snowpack on the north face.
