37 Degree slope on the trail of Flattop via Glen Alps Trailhead
Weak layer underneath the snow, about an 8 inch slab.
Observation: Chugach State Park
Location: Flattop Mountain, base of the staircase on the main trail.
Hiked around the flattop area, overnight a lot of new snow and wind-blown snow covered the trail and any recognizable feature from the day prior. I did a little test to see how weak the snow was, and there was a weak layer near the base of the staircase on flattop where the climb begins. The slope is 37 degrees.
