Recent avalanche on the approach trail to Flattop – photo sent in to the avalanche center today (1/14/22). This slope is in the lee of prevailing winds and will often become windloaded and avalanche multiple times a year. It is unknown if this was a natural avalanche or if it was human triggered. It is also unknown when exactly it occurred. However, due to the sharpness of the crown, it likely released sometime on Thursday night or early Friday (1/13 – 1/14).
