While skinning up the apron of the north couloir on Falls Peak the third member of the group felt a large collapse. Dug twin pits above and past the area of the collapse at 3,000 ft on a 36 degree north aspect. ECTP13 40 cm down on the interface between the Sunday night storm and the Thursday storm. ECTP20 75 cm down on top of the buried facets above the ice crust. Same propagating failures in the second pit, Q2 shears for all failures. Notably dense “maritime-esque” snow from the two recent storms. Alarmed enough by the result that we went home without further poking around.
