Avalanche: Turnagain
Location: Facets
Touring up toward 4940 from the Cornbiscut parking, started punching out wind slabs so stayed in the less wind affected areas doing laps on the Facets runs.
Avalanche Details
Touchy windslabs in isolated leeward pockets. Slabs were generally 3-4” deep but up to 10” in places. We couldn’t get out on them, as soon as we touched them they were propagating and releasing. Sitting on the SH and NSF. We turned back and stayed low assuming that the larger bowls up high probably had potential for bigger slabs.

Saw natural D1-2 windslabs that looked recent( last day or so) in leeward areas at approximately 3000’
Weather
Clear skies, light winds from south, barely enough to transport snow. -14C @ 2385’ at 13:57.
Snow surface
Snow still has some good settled powder skiing from 2300’ to the raincrust at 1300’ but was wind affected.
Snowpack
No formal stability tests. Hand pits popping out on isolation in steeper 30 degree+ slopes
The slab to the right of the top skier went, and then in a couple steps the next one to the left went.
