This avalanche is from outside our advisory area.

March 19th, fatal human triggered avalanche on Hatch Peak, ESE
facing. Estimated at 2-4′ deep 200′ wide running 1500′, crown at
~4500′ and 38deg with the majority of the track ~35deg. There was
a lower crown around 100′ wide. Weak layer was facets above melt
freeze crusts near the ground under pencil hard wind slab. Snow
depth on the flank was 2.5′ deep.

Slope was cross loaded. Debris ran into a narrow gully with a
resulting very deep burial. Currently thought to have been
triggered by the skier from a thin spot. Skier was approximately
the 8th person down the slope.
