Route & General Observations

Toured around IM bowl jumping on test slopes. Ascended Eldorado Bowl NE-most ridge to 3700′. Dug a pit and descended from there.

Observer Comments

Small wind slabs were touchy on NNE test slopes, average 6" deep, but up to 12" deep in places. Failing on 1-3 mm rimed stellars in new snow sitting on the drizzle crust.

Active wind transport in the afternoon from the north. Widespread pluming seen at all ridgelines.

Weather

~1" new snow overnight (approximate, wind blew it off storm board). Wind light gusting to strong overnight from the S / SSW. Wind shifted to northerly and increased to moderate gusting to strong in the afternoon (localized ground blizzards). Overcast until 1300, intermittent valley fog and clouds in afternoon, clear by dusk. Temperature around 20F and dropping throughout the day.

Snow surface

~1" new snow overnight. 1-3 mm rimed precip particles on drizzle crust, wind packed powder, sastrugi.

Snowpack

Dug in Eldorado Bowl at 3700', east aspect, ~20 degree slope. HS = 115 cm. Found a 65 cm F hard to P hard slab sitting atop 1 mm facets down 65 cm. CT24SP, ECTX, PST 75/100 END on this layer.
