Observer Comments

Old avalanches from last 10/9 Storm Cycle, a few D2 dry slabs and two D2.5 wet slabs
Old, Widespread wet loose on various aspects above 3.5k'
Stability was good today.
NO cracking, NO collapsing, NO avalanches.
Widespread tracks and heavy backcountry use on W>N>E aspects above 3k' with no avalanches I could observe using binoculars and high perches for viewing, clear skies.

Weather

Clear, 0C, Variable light winds @ 4.5k'
10/9 to 10/11, 27" new snow, in 4" SWE at IM (3.5k')
Warm storm. Rain line in storm appears to be approx 3700'

Snow surface

SH 2-4mm, specific locations; wind protected, cold and shady.

Snowpack

1 meter of snow at 3.5k', 1.2 meter at 4k'
Moist, tiny rounded grains (0.1-2mm) at the ground.
An Ice layer within 18" of the ground varies from 4" thick at 3k' to 1" thick at 4k' with small rounded grains below it to the ground. Upside down structure under ice layer, over rounded grains, no facets present.
Above the ice layer is the 10/9 storm snow, right side up.
Other observers have identified SH within the snowpack, but we saw none within the snowpack today.
