Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Overcast with some broken skies around 2:30 to 3pm.
Lightly snowing in the morning (s -1)
Calm winds

Snow surface

10" new snow (25cm) at all elevations from road to 2200'

Snowpack

A few hand pits failed easily or on isolation on very steep 40+ degree small test slopes. Otherwise the new snow was too soft and fell apart in hand pits on lower angle slopes.

Dug two pits side by side at 2200' on a North aspect on a 29* slope. We found 25cm of new snow from overnight sitting on ~15cm of of Fist hard facets (.5-1mm) on a MF crust. The new snow was F- and unconsolidated - no slab was present. We didn't have any test results in older layers either. CTN x 2 and ECTX x 2. See pit profile for more details and temp profile.

*Both snow pits were located just below a small role where Eddie's West ridge flattens out at 2200'. We probed around and HS varied from 30cm to 220cm - An area that can be quite wind effected.
