Skinned up the Eddies common uptrack to the ridgeline with the APU Snow Science 2 students to gather HS data, variable surface conditions throughout. Windblown on NW aspects, with loading on SSE. Best ski quality was between about 1500′ and 2300′ on WSW aspect, about 4-6in of soft light snow. Skied the ridge back, skiing around our skintrack up high, then moving more skiers left once in the trees.
Temps right around 0C, 1C at the trailhead and -3C on the ridgeline. Skies early on were scattered and moved to very few by 15:00. Calm throughout lower to mid elevations with light SE winds on the ridgetop. No precip.
Quite variable... sun crust, windblown, dust on crust, settled powder. Some areas at lower elevations were corning up by 15:00.
Dug a pit at about 2700' on a SSW aspect with a 29degree slope. Performed a CT, ECT, and ST. Strength was high, structure was poor in the top 5cm but good below, propagation propensity of the WL was moderate. Overall stability at this location was Good.
