Toured up to jewel glacier crow pass, for a couple laps. Found excellent skiing. 11 inches of light
density snow with little to no wind affect. The bed surface that the new snow from 10-16 is resting on
is hard dense rounds. With simple hand shears there is little cohesion between these two layers.
Currently the new snow lacks cohesion. On the way out from jewel glacier there were localized
winds(L gusting M) blowing N through crow pass. These winds created isolated wind slabs that
were tender and propagated shooting cracks up to 20ft. Extrapolating to the future. I’m expecting to
see tender wind slabs where the winds have affected the recent new snow.
Will see how much wind there was overnight when we get back up there today!
