Two photos of a natural avalanche that sent a powder blast over a house in the Crow Creek neighborhood Monday night. Nobody was injured in the avalanche.
The character of this avalanche is similar to that of multiple other avalanches that failed in the Girdwood area during the 2/18 cycle. We suspect these avalanches involve a weak layer that was buried on Valentine’s Day. We will fill in more details as we gather more information.

Details are best estimates from the road and using digital mapping tools. The avalanche was on a southwest face on Goat Mtn. The powder cloud from the avalanche hit a house on the night of 2/21. Nobody was injured, and the structure didn't sustain any damage.
