Route & General Observations

Ben and I dug this pit at 2100′ on a N aspect. The total
snowpack depth at this site was 4.5 feet. We got moderate Q3
shears on the January facets, which looked to be rounding out.
The crust above the facets was supportable which made for good
skiing. I had to pound on my shovel to get the October facets to
fail at the bottom of the snowpack. These crystals looked more
like columns of depth hoar about 3mm in size.
