Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Inverted temps, 0F at the road, around 20F above the tree line and ridge. Calm winds. Sunny!

Snow surface

Widespread hoar frost growth, especially in the trees and alders. Seemed to diminish some with elevation, not sure if this is temperature related.
Had some minor sluffing early in the descent.
Ski quality was excellent through the alders.

Snowpack

160-180 cm on the ridge, some pockets of wind affected snow. Nothing cracked, but we also attempted to avoid the obvious areas.
