Dug a simple snow pit near the East end of Center Ridge. About 24 inches from top of pit to rock hard icy layer. Rock hard icy layer “impenetrable” to shovel. Two layers about 12 inches deep each, top layer fist hardness, 2nd layer four finger hardness. the interface between the icy crust bottom and top 24 inches was four finger hardness. Snow crystals seemed similar throughout the column. High 20s temperature on arrival about 11, 33 on departure. Cloudy on arrival, mostly cloudy with some sun on departure. Wind started kicking up
about 12:30 pm gaining strength through out the day.
Many thanks to the folks who continue to contribute observations.
