Route & General Observations

Skied from non-motorized lot on east side highway up standard route to Center Ridge weather station and 0.25 mi beyond. Lower elevations contained supportable (0 boot penetration)rain crust with thin layer of 2-3 mm surface hoar. Surface hoar coarsened with elevation gain. At 1750 ft rain crust transitioned to melt/freeze crust then loose snow with surface hoar and 40 cm boot penetration. Cleared large snow pillow off instrument shelter at WX sta. and found avg snow depth of 220 cm at same site (pic). Surface hoar increased to 1 cm near ridgetop. Found 10 cm wind slab on NE side ride which dissipated to loose snow with a 100 ft drop in elevation.
