Level 2 Class – did field tests across the highway from the motorized lot at 1100′ elevation.

Weather

Heavy rain to at least 1100' all afternoon.

Snow surface

At 1100', 60 cm of new storm snow sitting on top of a melt-freeze crust.

Snowpack

Collapsing under our skis. Upside down storm snow. Hand pits showed new storm snow failing in isolation. CT-2 test showed failures where the moist top layer changed to drier snow underneath. RB -6 MB at old snow/new snow interface.
