Route & General Observations

We snowmachined to the Snowbird, Bomber, Penny Royal and Wintergreen glaciers via Dog Sled Pass. It was all refrozen slush until we passed to the north side of Dog Sled Pass, then we had good conditions on every north-ish aspect from there to Winter Green. There were no red flags observed. We rode Northwest thru Northeast aspects of Snowbird, Bomber, Penny Royal and Wintergreen glaciers. There were several other parties of skiers and riders, and we didn’t observe them having any snow instability issues. We saw one old slab on the eastern side of snowbird glacier under Higher Spire mtn, approx 150′ wide by 100′ tall at 5600′. Snow surface from 4000′ – 6000′ on northwest-northeast aspects is 5cm-25cm of settled powder on top of a firm surface.
