Freezing rain around 10:30 this morning ended by noon. Temperatures stayed below freezing all day. Moderate winds from the south.
Surfaces were either firm and shallow with old crusts exposed or low density snow in sheltered areas. A thin drizzle crust was forming in the morning. A small amount of rimed particles could be observed in the afternoon.
There’s some spatial variability in terms of snowpack depth. Windward slopes had exposed rocks and vegetation. Leeward aspects were up to 195cm deep in some spots. One group reported some propagation on a wind slab that likely formed on the Dec 16th. No results failed on any of the persistent grains buried.
