Route & General Observations

Skinned up summit lake road then up Bennet’s ridge and did 2 laps. Variable conditions some packed powder, little ice. Visibility (flat lighting) went from little to none as the day progressed, made us head out early.

Weather

Cloudy, ~10mph winds on ridge. 5-10 below ridge. Temp around freezing. Very flat light, difficult to see contours.

Snow surface

Very variable snow: wind crust on ridge, some packed powder, little ice.

Snowpack

First pit: 220 cm snow depth, north aspect 26° slope about 250' from saddle on summit lake pass. Dug down 100 cm, 1F to pencil hardness the entire pit. ECTX seemed stable. No signs of instability.
Pit 2: similar aspect/ slope. CTX. Similar hardness. 240 cm snow depth.
