Observer Comments

Intermittent cracking when walking along ridgeline bordering Max's headwall over the resort, approx 2500-3000'. Cracks had roughly 1 to 3 foot radius extending out from the boot. No other red flags.

Weather

Light to no winds. 10-20 degrees at car, under 10 degrees on the summit. Bluebird.

Snow surface

Variable. 2-3" of soft snow on top of ice in the trees where there was open canopy, ice under the canopy. Variable hard and soft wind effected snow in the alpine. Hard wind slabs and crusts along ridgeline. Softer wind recycled powder with 3" ski penetration on the main Max's face from about 3000' down to 1500', where an ice crust was felt under the 2-3" of soft surface snow.
