“Toured” through standard Eddies uptrack through the trees and then on the normal south west approach. Very minimal snow in trees/more ice and dirt then anything else. Noticed surface hoar up to the shoulder. Ripped skis just below the headwall. Within 20 yards of beginning the decent below the headwall, we experienced a massive whumpf that sounded as if it traveled up the headwall above us. We we running low on day light and did not dig pit but rather retreated and skied the south west ridge out. Appeared to be newer tracks on the skinners left of the headwall that only produced small slough.

Massive whumph at the base of the headwall, we had several smaller whumphs while traversing back to the ridge.
Blue bird, no wind, 6* at the car
larger surface hoar building at the lower and mid elevations. Smaller on the ridge. Snow is faceting out making untracked snow super fun to ski. Tracked snow was firm. Watch out for sharks!
No formal pit was dug
