Route & General Observations

Bright sunny day with dead calm winds. The lower flanks of the hershey kiss of
Bard Peak where pool table smooth corn, warming up around 400pm. The upper
summit cone had a slight suncrust with a around 8-12″ of powder that was well
bonded to the old existing sun crust. Skiied a predominantely west aspect with
minimal sluffing. Sunny slopes heating up, but not really becoming reactive
and releasing anything significant until 5pm or so.
A large avalanche that had released since last weeks snow storms was observed
on a east to northeast aspect south of Bard Peak across Portage glacier as seen in the
first photograph.
