Mid day fog burned off and left us with clear blue skies and no wind. Most of Anchorage was still beneath the clouds.
Anchorage Nordic Ski Patrol backcountry patrol from Arctic Valley parking lot to saddle overlooking south fork. Climbed south facing aspect of Gordon Lyon and dug a quick pit. Skied both south and west facing aspects. Lots of folks out enjoying the sun above the clouds and the great snow.

Mix of new snow and surface hour. South aspects had a noticeable melt/freeze layer about 10 cm beneath the surface.
