Blue bird day. At 1500 in S. frk saddle was 40F with SE winds@ 1-2mph.

Variable snow surface depending on aspect. Northern aspects were mostly loose broken particles. Southern and western aspects had 5cm sun crust with localized 10cm wind slab.

42cm snowpack at 2600ft and 52cm at 3400ft. Quick pit showed combo of loose broken particles and rounds to ground. No sign of surface or depth hoar. Overnight temps probably not cold enough to produce that effect in snowpack. Moderate hand shears on 10cm localized wind slab. No further tests.
