We witnessed a skier trigger a slab avalanche on the west/northwest face above Snowbird Lake. The avalanche occurred ~6 pm Sunday, with a crown that appeared to be between one and two feet from our vantage point at the hut. This was probably the steepest area of the face - other areas had supported snowmachines and skiers without failure. The skier stayed above the avalanche and the debris didn’t quite reach the lake.
