Weather & Snow Characteristics

Weather

5F at parking lot (900') 20F at 3600'
High clouds streaming in from the West. Winds were light from the South. No new snow.

Snow surface

We found 2-3mm surface hoar from Valley bottom to ridge tops. Appeared to be mostly laid down and/ or sitting on soft faceted snow. Ski quality was very good!

Snowpack

2200': HS = 45cm
3600': HS = 90cm. Mid-November buried surface hoar present 30cm below the surface (ECTN18). Overall the snowpack was right side up with the top 30cm very loose and faceted out. The bottom 20 cm of the snowpack was moist (rounded grains) in this pit.
