Below are two photos taken by a motorist just leaving Girdwood heading to
Anchorage who witnessed a powder cloud near MP 94 while the road was open to
traffic. A small amount of debris was deposited on the road but most of it
stopped above the highway elevation. DOT crews responded immediately to reduce
the avalanche hazard near this location.
The third photo is of Mount Alpenglow across the Arm from Bird Point. This same
person witnessed another natural avalanche earlier in the day coming down the NW
bowl of Alpenglow as they were driving to Girdwood. A diminishing powder cloud
can be seen in the picture.
