Route & General Observations

Anchorage Nordic Ski patrol toured up $1,000 run. Quick hand pit on North facing slope at about 4,000 ft. Lots of skiers and boarders out enjoying the early season snow. Generally good skiing – watch for hidden rocks :)

Observer Comments

Very small pockets of stubborn to moderately reactive wind slabs in isolated terrain. Skier weight at top of isolated short steep rollovers near creek was adequate to produce shooting cracks and propagate small shallow slabs a few feet.

Mostly clear skies with light wind.

Mix of soft snow and light to medium wind effected snow.

Snowpack

Shallow early season snowpack with depths around 40 cm. Melt/freeze crust approximately 10 cm about ground, with moderate-sized facets below, and generally uniform soft snow above.
