Northerly side of Bennet ridge cross loaded and scouwered
Observation: Hatcher Pass
Location: $1000 Run
Skin up to base of Hatch peak north side via common skin track. Wanted to look at current conditions of snow pack. Used low angle slopes to access area. Dug 2 pits, ECTN11 @ 20CM with 50CM total snow pack and ECTN18 @ 60CM with 90CM total snow pack. Looked as if it was the old/new interface. Both pits were on 25 degree slopes facing east to northeast.
Snow was veritable with grassy patches on ridges and pockets of waist deep snow in lower gullies. Snow pack did not ski well and I will probably not go back there for a while as all gullies have cross loaded.
