Forecaster Chat with Pascal Haegeli – Recording Posted!

Chugach NF Avalanche Center forecaster John Sykes will be interviewing renowned avalanche scientist Pascal Haegeli on how public avalanche forecasting products are seen and used by backcountry recreationalists. This event is catered to all user levels, from novice to professional, and all modes of backcountry travel. Please join us and chime in with your thoughts during the Q & A session following the interview!

Pascal is a leader in the avalanche research field with strong ties to the Canadian avalanche community and is the head of an interdisciplinary research group at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia. His research spans a broad range of fields from meteorology to cognitive psychology with the overarching goal of understanding the interplay of all components affecting avalanche risk. In this interview and Q & A session we will focus on his research around how backcountry recreationists interpret and apply avalanche forecasts and what we could do as an avalanche forecast center to improve our consistency and communication with the public.
