One heli skier was caught in an avalanche near Lake George and did not survive. Preliminary details are limited. The accident occurred approximately 1 mile east of Lake George at around 2 p.m. on March 27.
The second skier on the slope triggered an avalanche remotely. He was unable to deploy his airbag, was caught, carried, and fully buried. The skier was extracted from the avalanche debris and flown to a hospital in Anchorage by the heli ski guides, where he was pronounced deceased.
