Route & General Observations

Toured up to Wimp Bowl. We accessed the top of the bowl by gaining the ridge to the top of 4068. Encountered a rain crust just below fresh snow toward the top of the ridge (see attached photo) which we decided to boot pack. We descended a steep wind lip to the saddle/top of Wimp bowl to ski our first lap. Decided to ski a second lap but used the skin track going up the right side of the bowl.

During our two laps down and up the middle of Wimp Bowl we experienced whumphing. Slope angle was 20-21 degrees.

Weather

Observed new snow (approx 3 inches) from 1/15. Winds were clam today. Skies consisted of broken clouds to the south with most of Hatcher Pass being overcast until mid afternoon. Temperature midday was -10C/14F.
