Avalanche: Hatcher Pass

Climbed to 4068 from top of 16mile lot. Skied a little down Wimp Ridge, found it to be a bit lumpy from previous sastrugi under new snow. Eased into Wimp Bowl, snow felt suspicious, did a few turns and a slab fractured at feet, maintained position just at crown as slab propagated 20′ to skier’s left and 50′ to skier’s right. Yelled avalanche to partner above, and watched debris slide rapidly down maybe 75′ where it stopped. Told partner situation and skied bed surface to below debris. We found nice snow down gut of Wimp Bowl and skied down into alders. Some sun crust where aspect hinted southerly, but soft snow on shady aspects. Climbed up did couple more runs without incident. No one carried or injured. Light was in and out, no photos
