Route & General Observations

Alaska Avalanche School Level 1 Class Field Observations Day so we didn’t travel far, but we dug a ton of pits. Noted no new avalanche activity or red flags

Weather

FEW clouds, good light, temps in the 20's, calm winds. Winds picking up on ridge tops towards end of day.

Snow surface

Settled Powder.

Snowpack

Same poor structure that has been reported in all previous obs. Basically a slab on top of a crust/facet combo, on top of weak basal facets. Pits got a variety of results, indicating spatial variability with regard to strength but overall propogation potential still exists in spades. Including of note one ECTPV and one CT1 down 86 on the basal facets. Hatcher Pass continues to be guilty until proven innocent.
