Observation: Hatcher Pass

Route & General Observations

Skinned up from Independence mine parking lot through the rolling hills to the Ray Wallace chutes. Generally pretty hard (Fist) snow. Ski pen around 2-4″. Ski pole pen with a LOT of force was around 2′. Saw no signs of avy. Rain crust Little bit here and there toward the back of the bowl.

Weather

No new snow, wind was light in valley, probably 10mph on top. Temp was around freezing, possibly higher.

Snow surface

Settled powder 3' deep. Fist hardness with a couple small layers of 4F.

Snowpack

Seemed stable from CTX and observations. Hiked half way up one of Ray Wallace chutes and had good turns.
