Avalanche: Hatcher Pass

It was scary and could have had a much worse outcome. Reflecting on the avalanche today I would like to share 3 points; leading up to the slide, during the slide, after. Before- The main run only had enough room for 2 or 3 tracks and I was 5th in line so I decided to ski the next run over even though I didn't really want to. During- I had to make some quick decisions and narrowly missed getting taken out by rocks and moving snow. After- Super Scary! You think about your life and dog and important stuff scary. As a group we talked about observing and estimating where someone would have been deposited, skier one stopping in a safe place and putting their skins on just in case, skier three safest route to scene of avalanche and having everyone switch to search.
